Bonfire Night Infographic Tips

Many of us love Bonfire Night, especially watching great firework displays and playing with sparklers. As the dark nights draw in and the weather turns chilly, Bonfire Night gives us a unique autumn spectacle to help us celebrate the changing of the seasons. But, it also presents us with plenty of hazards. The dangers of fireworks and bonfires are well known, but for children the danger can be tempting. To help you to discuss firework safety with your pupils, we’ve created a handy Infographic with our Bonfire Night Safety Tips.

Once you’ve discussed bonfire night safety with your pupils why not reward them with one of our bright and friendly Firework Code Stickers? Your pupils will love them and will want to wear them if they go to see a firework display.

Safety Tips

Firework Safety

Lighting fireworks is very dangerous and should only be done by a responsible adult. Don’t be tempted to play with fireworks. If you go to an organised firework display, or if your family is setting off fireworks at home, adults should always follow the Firework Code:

  • Keep fireworks in a closed box
  • Follow the instructions for lighting them very carefully
  • Light them at arm’s length
  • Never go back to a lit firework
  • Stand well back
  • Never put fireworks in your pocket
  • Never throw fireworks
  • The only fireworks you should touch are…

    Sparklers

  • Light sparklers one at a time
  • Always wear gloves to protect your hands
  • Keep your sparkler at arm’s length
  • Be careful not to burn yourself or others

  • Make sure your pets are safe and secure at home – they might not like the fireworks!
